Joseph is a graphic designer with extensive experience (www.levelc.net). Since earning his BFA from the School of Visual Arts, he has been a staff designer at Stewart, Tabori & Chang, designing large-format art and coffee table books; Senior Designer at Dutton Children’s Books; and Design Supervisor at HarperCollins Adult Trade division. In that time, he also designed various collateral materials for a variety of clients, both in and outside the book publishing industry. These include media credentials for Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game; patient handbooks and brochures for Lenox Hill Hospital; direct-mail brochures for The New York Pops; exhibition catalogs for The National Book Foundation; packaging, posters, print portfolios, and notecards etc. for The Museum of Modern Art; postcard production for The Metropolitan Museum of Art; posters and programs for SOOP Theatre Co., and much more. Joseph has also provided illustrations for publications such as The Boston Globe, Business Week, GQ Magazine, Manhattan Inc. Magazine, and The Washington Post Magazine. He is also an accomplished painter (www.josephrutt.com) and many of his paintings can be found in private collections throughout the Northeast. Joseph is a co-founder of the 727 Award at The School of Visual Arts and has been a part-time faculty member at Parsons The New School for Design.
